Tribeca New Music Festival: Tribeca Monsters!
The TRIBECA NEW MUSIC FESTIVAL invades Brooklyn at Galapagos as the TRIBECA MONSTERS! tackle some of the hottest avant-pop pieces on the planet.
Monster violinist Mary Rowell (ETHEL), keyboardist Geoffrey Burleson, with cellist Wendy Law and percussionist John Ferrari perform an exciting program of cutting-edge works that include TATATATA, a jaw-dropping speech-music piece for solo cello and boombox by Jacob TV; Cable Ready, a wild ride rhythmic-looping labyrinth for piano, cello and percussion by Michael Gandolfi; Filter, a tour de force rocked-out solo for violin by Daniel Bernard Roumain; Spin, an elegant romantic-gone-minimal sonata for violin and piano by Marc Mellits; Celeste, a percussive and rhythmic work for violin by Stewart Copeland (The Police); Da Vinci Preludes, #1 and #3, two sinuous works for piano by Ed Harsh; and Six Night Sunrise for violin and piano–the NYC premiere of our 2011 Young Composer Competition winner, Dylan Mattingly.
